Sacred Heart Corset (Historical Stays)
A little devotion to the beautifully macabre.
The Sacred Heart corset combines historical-inspired structure with original gothic artwork, bringing together anatomical detail, floral motifs and radiating sunrays for a bold statement piece 
Inspired by the traditional symbolism of the sacred heart, this design features an anatomical heart with five flowers along its base, and with a sunray effect bursting outwards around it. Originally drawn by myself using fine liner, the artwork is screen printed in white ink onto black fabric for a bold, high-contrast finish.
Inspired by late 16th and early 17th century stays, this piece is designed to create a straighter, more conical silhouette rather than the exaggerated hourglass shape of later corsetry.
Drafted using historical techniques and reworked with a contemporary mindset, it sits beautifully on the body while retaining its distinctly old-world character.
Made from durable 100% cotton drill and structured with synthetic whalebone for support, the corset balances historical inspiration with modern wearability. The straight front enhances the classic silhouette, while cotton binding and velvet ribbon details add a softer finish.
