Introducing the Oracle Dress: Where Historical Craftsmanship Meets Modern Wearability

There has always been something captivating about historical clothing. Every seam had a purpose. Every lace, gusset and panel was designed to create a garment that not only looked beautiful but adapted to the person wearing it.

The Oracle Dress was born from that philosophy.

Inspired by the construction of historical stays, it brings together centuries-old design principles with modern comfort to create a dress that feels both timeless and effortless to wear.

Crafted from 100% black cotton drill, the Oracle Dress features a fitted princess-seamed bodice, a sculpted basque waist and a gathered mini skirt, finished with our signature Three of Swords print. The silhouette takes inspiration from historical garments while remaining practical enough for everyday wear.

Inspired by History

One of my favourite details is the angled side lacing.

The seam placement is inspired by historical stays, where side-front lacing was often used to allow a garment to adapt as the body changed, particularly during pregnancy. It was a wonderfully practical solution that reflected the craftsmanship and ingenuity of historical dressmakers.

Rather than recreating history exactly, I wanted to reinterpret that idea for a modern wardrobe.

The adjustable lacing allows you to personalise the fit through the waist and bust, while concealed elastic beneath the lacing allows the waist to comfortably expand by approximately one dress size. Whether you're between sizes, have a fuller bust or simply prefer a little more flexibility, the Oracle Dress has been designed to move with you.

The Details That Matter

Beautiful garments aren't just about what you see on the outside.

The bodice is lined in lightweight cotton lawn for comfort, while discreet soft boning sits either side of the eyelets to support the lacing and help the dress retain its shape over time.

Inside, every seam is finished with French seams, and the centre back zip is finished with bound zip tape. These are details many people will never notice, but they're the difference between a garment that's simply made and one that's thoughtfully crafted.

They're also a reflection of my background in luxury fashion, where the inside of a garment is considered just as important as the outside.
